Facial Skin Lesions

Abnormalities of the facial skin are often very visible, and yet, surprisingly, these conditions often go untreated until too late. Some are cancerous and others are infectious or inflammatory. They all may cause significant discomfort to patients.

There are a number of benign skin growths which are not cancerous. But when they increase in size, or when they become unbearably itchy, irritating, tender or become a source of discomfort, they should be examined by a physician to determine whether they are indicated for a definitive treatment.

Melanoma Treatment

Some cancerous conditions such as melanoma can be quite deadly, while other conditions such as squamous cell carcinoma are much less prone to spread to other parts of the body. Basal cell carcinoma is much more indolent, meaning slow to grow and very rarely seen to spread.  Importantly, any “moles” that are increasing in size or changing in shape, or any skin abnormalities that have a non-healing ulceration should be examined by a physician or a dermatologist immediately.
